The major disadvantages of a Hybrid Vehicle is the increased purchased price, though government grant of £5000 softens this somewhat.
Hybrid Vehicle drivers who do mostly motorway or longer distance driving will not see much fuel economy and thus it will be difficult to recoup the higher initial purchase price
A further disadvantage is the resale value of the vehicles, mostly due to the need for renewal of the batteries even 10 years – and therefore the age of the battery at resale has been found to be a factor in the USA.
